Join Us in Reading Through the Bible in 2025

Would you consider reading through the Bible in 2025? Together as a church community, we can embark on this yearlong journey of faith and discovery. A Bible in a Year reading plan is available outside the church office and will also be published monthly in the newsletter. You can also access it online here: Bible in a year reading plan

Dedicating about 20 minutes a day to Scripture is a wonderful way to grow closer to God. Many who have done this discipline before share how it reveals surprising connections between different parts of the Bible and provides a deeper understanding of God’s love and guidance.

We hope you’ll join us on this meaningful journey of faith and exploration!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP

Is someone here moving toward the light of life and fearful of that which we call death?

Why be afraid? God is able.

Is someone here on the brink of despair because of the death of a loved one, the breaking of a marriage, or the waywardness of a child?

Why despair?

God is able to give us the power to endure that which cannot be changed.

Is someone here anxious because of bad health?

Why be anxious? Come what may, God is able.

Surely God is able.

OPENING MUSIC: “Lift Every Voice and Sing” #519 UMH

OPENING PRAYER: Almighty God, shield of the oppressed; hear us as we pray for the friendless and the lonely, the tempted and the unbelieving. Be merciful to those who suffer, in body or in mind, to those who are in danger or distress, and who have suffered loss. Let your love surround the infirm and the aged. Be especially near to those who are passing through the valley of death. May they find eternal rest, and light at evening time; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

CALL TO WORSHIP

Christ Jesus, through he was in the form of God,

did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

but, emptied himself, taking the form of a servant,

being born in our likeness.

And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the Earth

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the father.

OPENING MUSIC: “Come Let us Use the Grace Divine” #606 UMH

OPENING PRAYER:

O God of all the nations, you manifested your love by sending your only Son into the world that all might live through him. Pour your Spirit on your Church, that it may fulfill his command to preach the gospel everywhere; send forth laborers into your harvest; defend them in all dangers and temptations; give them grace to bear faithful witness to you; endue them with zeal and love, that they may turn many to righteousness; through the same your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
