It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Petrick, who died peacefully on the evening of October 15, 2025, at the age of 44, just weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Andrew’s departure has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted parents, Dave and Diane Petrick, whose heartbreak is shared by his loving sister Michelle (Petrick) Lurie, who stood by his side every day since his diagnosis. Andrew was also a caring uncle to Addyson and Joshua, and a cherished brother-in-law to Adam Lurie, who always looked forward to Andrew’s visits and the warmth of his company.
Andrew’s life was marked by his deep love of music and sports. He was a talented guitarist who found joy in jamming with friends and sharing his passion for sound and rhythm. His easygoing nature and magnetic personality made him a luminous presence
in every room. As his friend Dufour beautifully put it, Andrew had a “wonderful essence” — a light that everyone recognized instantly and that brightened the lives of those around him.
Andrew remained a dedicated father figure to his 13-year-old adopted son, Sheamus, whose life he touched with love and care.
Andrew will be honored in a service at his parents’ church, Hamburg United Methodist Church on Sunday October 19th, 2025 at 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 4685 Southwestern Blvd. Building A from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to remember the joy, laughter, and unforgettable conversations he brought into their lives. He was the kind of person everyone enjoyed spending time with — a genuinely likable character whose absence will be deeply felt.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes tokens of sympathy or contributions to a charity of your choice in Andrew’s memory.
Andrew Petrick will be remembered for his big heart, humor, music, and countless ways he made life better for those around him. He was loved, and he will be missed.

Can you help us out?
Homespun Holiday Bazaar returns
Nov. 7-8 after one-year break
We are so excited to reaffirm that, yes, the Homespun Holiday Bazaar, hosted by the United Women in Faith (UWF), is back! It will be held Friday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As always, proceeds benefit ministries in our church, our Hamburg community and across Western New York. Some years we have contributed to the church’s budget as well. Last year $7,000 was contributed to 16 organizations following the 2023 bazaar. Can we match that success this year?
We are hosting 15 community vendors for your holiday shopping pleasure! There also will be handcrafted items from our UWF and church members. We will have a large Granny's Attic area; lots of delectable baked goods including pies, cookies, coffee cakes and more, and our famous pecans and fruitcake for sale.
Also returning is the soup sale – chicken noodle, vegetable beef and chili will be for sale in 16 oz. takeout containers. It will be for sale (cold) on the days of the bazaar (no pre-sale).
Before we get ready to shop though, we need to prepare for the big event:
- We appreciate the many donations already appearing in the Room 19 in the basement of high quality, clean garage sale items for Granny's Attic. We can handle a few more, but we encourage you to get them in ASAP. Thank you.
- We would love the help of youngish, able-bodied folks who would have an hour or so spare here and there. This involves moving items in preparation for bazaar setup, likely on a Sunday after service. Then there will be a time to set up tables and then to “break down” the bazaar. Please watch for sign-up sheets on the counter in the Gathering Space in the coming weeks.
- Of course, if you love to bake, anyone is welcome to donate home baked goods. You don’t need to be a UWF member!
Thank you for your help with the Homespun Holiday Bazaar in years past – you are loving your neighbor by doing so! We look forward to the return of the bazaar and the fun and holiday spirit it provides!
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
John Meader’s adult Sunday School class will wrap up Adam Hamilton’s “The Call” about the life and message of Paul.
The next study will be Max Lucado's "God Never Gives up on You" exploring what Jacob's story teaches us about grace, mercy, and God's relentless love.
Books will be provided and all are welcome to come join in the discussion each Sunday in the parlor at 9am.

Due to increased grocery costs the suggested contribution is now $9 per dinner.
Please see Rick park with any questions or concerns.

Granny finished cleaning her attic
how are you doing with your treasures?
Granny’s finished collecting treasures from her attic—and you should be collecting too! It’s time to start gathering those clean, gently used household items that she’ll proudly display and sell at this year’s Bazaar.
Important Reminder from Granny:
She’s tough but fair—only clean, usable household goods will be accepted.
No appliances, please!
Room 19 is now open for donations.
This year’s Annual Bazaar, hosted by the United Women in Faith and supported by the whole church, will be held November 7 & 8. In addition to all your favorite traditions—like the bake sale, pecans and fruitcakes, and the soup and chili sale—this year’s event will also feature an expanded vendor fair in place of the usual HUWF crafts.
Questions? Contact Bazaar Co-Chairs: Rose Caldwell or Sue Gagne.

We still have limited openings in the Two Year old and Multi-Age classrooms.

Join Us in Reading Through the Bible in 2025
Would you consider reading through the Bible in 2025? Together as a church community, we can embark on this yearlong journey of faith and discovery. A Bible in a Year reading plan is available outside the church office and will also be published monthly in the newsletter. You can also access it online here: Bible in a year reading plan
Dedicating about 20 minutes a day to Scripture is a wonderful way to grow closer to God. Many who have done this discipline before share how it reveals surprising connections between different parts of the Bible and provides a deeper understanding of God’s love and guidance.
We hope you’ll join us on this meaningful journey of faith and exploration!
You can also Read and Listen to Today's Reading Online (FREE!)

ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP
Let love be genuine and live in harmony;
Hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good. Outdo one another in showing honor;
Be humble and never conceited.
Love is stronger than death
And jealousy is cruel as the grave.
Floods cannot drown love
And wealth cannot buy it.
Put love above all else;
Let Christ’s peace rule your hearts.
Always be forgiving,
As Christ has forgiven you.
Love is not jealous or boastful,
Arrogant, rude, or stubborn,
Irritable, resentful, or possessive.
Love is patient and kind.
Do not love in word or speech only;
Love also in deed and truth.
Receive each other in sincerity,
Find mercy and grow old together.
Love rejoices in the right;
It bears, believes, hopes,
And endures all things,
For love is faithful and endless.
When the Lord builds the house,
The labor is never in vain.
Happy are those who take refuge in God;
Those who serve the Lord are redeemed.
OPENING HYMN: “The Voice of God is Calling” #436 UMH
OPENING PRAYER:
Holy God, we give you ourselves, captive and free,
Shaped by forces beyond our control,
Yet open to the power of your Spirit.
Through us, and our gifts, may others know
That when anyone is in Christ, there is new creation,
And that the old ways end, and new life begins
For everyone. Amen.
