Safe Sanctuaries ZOOM training to be held August 6th

(Perfect time to get your Sunday School, Youth Group, Nursery or any other Ministry Staff & Volunteers registered)

The standard Safe Sanctuaries training will be held:

Saturday, August 6th from 9AM to 12:30PM. This will be held via ZOOM.

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE: August 5, 2022 AT 5PM If you are not registered by that time, you will not be able to attend this event.

Our next conference Zoom Safe Sanctuaries training is not scheduled until November 5, 2022!

The training will follow the revised ZOOM curriculum developed by the Upper New York Annual Conference Safe Sanctuaries Team, educating those involved in ministries who work with children and vulnerable adults on risks and prevention strategies related to abuse.

The training will be facilitated by Arlene Schmidt and Pastor Christine Mitchell.

The participant curriculum packet is available on the Eventbrite event page via download. We recommend printing this packet prior to signing into the training.

OUR NEW SANCTUARY WINDOWS:

All the stained glass has been ordered and delivered.

Next Step: The artisans have created and delivered a small, sample “mock-up” stained glass window.

This window will be on display in the Gathering Space for the next two or three Sundays.

Note: Per the recommendation of the artisans, the background color for each window will be a very light beige instead of bright yellow, in keeping with the dignity, age and architecture of our church.

This will allow everyone to see first-hand the exact window colors, glass type and fabrication style prior to the “real” window fabrications. Please take the time to come in and view this small sample stained glass window.

Following that, full fabrication of all seven windows will commerce.

We do not yet have dates for final installation, but will keep everyone closely informed of our progress.

Our goal is to make people in our community aware of Sparks of Hope and also the great number of other agencies in our area that specialize in Recovery support. A number of their representatives will be present at the open house. Keep us in your prayers and any from of assistance (now and always) would be appreciated.

Wondering How You Can Help the People of Ukraine?

United Methodists and others wishing to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people in the wake of the Russian invasion of their country may contribute to Advance #982450, UMCOR International Disaster Response and Recovery. This fund will provide direct assistance to those in Ukraine as well as assistance to Ukrainians fleeing to neighboring countries.

Gifts to support the people of Ukraine can be made in the following ways:

  • Online at https://umcmission.org/advance-project/982450

  • By toll free telephone: 888-252-6174

  • By check with “Advance #982450-Ukraine” written on the memo line, either mailed and addressed to Global Ministries/UMCOR, GPO, P.O. Box 9068, New York, NY, 10087-9068 or given at or through any United Methodist church

One hundred percent of all Advance contributions go to the designated cause.

The United Methodist community in Ukraine, though quite small, is actively engaged in assisting neighbors in need. Global Ministries is in touch with the Church’s leadership as well as with church leaders in countries welcoming those who are fleeing from violence in Ukraine.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP Worriers of the world, unite! Bring your cares and concerns, your anxieties and greatest fears! Bring those things that make your toss on your beds, or that tie your stomach in knots! Bring your torments! bring your misgivings! Bring your troubles, and everything you dread! Heap them in huge mountains of distress, at the feet of the living God. Watch and see if God is faithful in all things. Look at the birds of the air! Our heavenly Father feeds them. Consider the lilies of the field! God clothes them in glory that exceeds Solomon's finest. Are you not more valuable than birds? Will not God care more for you than for grass? You of little faith, let your worries go! Strive first for the kingdom of God and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well

OPENING HYMN: “A Wilderness Wandering People” #3113 Worship & Song

OPENING PRAYER O Lord our God, you are always more ready to bestow your good gifts on us that we are to seek them, and are willing to give more than we desire or deserve. Help us so to seek that we may truly find, so to ask that we may joyfully receive, so to knock that the door of your mercy may be opened to us; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen CHILDREN’S MESSAGE

DOXOLOGY “Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow” #94 UMH

GREAT THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

...And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven

we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

...And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,

we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving

as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us,

as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

...Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church,

all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father (God ), now and for ever. Amen.
