GATHERING
CALL TO WORSHIP
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
The hour is coming, and now is
When true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth,
For such the Father seeks to worship him.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with Praise!
Give thanks to him, Bless his name!
HYMN “God of Grace and God of Glory” #577 UMH
OPENING PRAYER
O Lord our God,
You are always more ready to bestow your good gifts on us
Than we are to seek them,
And are willing to give more than we desire or deserve.
Help us so to seek that we may truly find,
So to ask that we may joyfully receive
So to knock that the door of your mercy may be opened to us;
Through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Almighty God, Giver of every good and perfect gift,
Teach us to render to you all that we have and all that we are,
That we may praise you, not with our lips only,
But with our whole lives,
Turning the duties, the sorrows, and the joys of our days
Into a living sacrifice to you;
Through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Let us pray for the Church and for the World.
Grant, Almighty God,
that all who confess your name shall be united in your truth,
live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Silent Prayer
Guide the people of this land, and of all the nations,
In the ways of justice and peace;
That we may honor one another and serve the common good.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Silent Prayer
Give us all a reverence of the earth as your own creation,
that we may use its resources rightly
in the service of others and to your honor and glory
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Silent Prayer
Bless all whose lives are closely linked with ours,
And grant that we may serve Christ in them,
And love one another as Christ loves us.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Silent Prayer
Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit;
Give them courage and hope in their troubles,
And bring them the joy of your salvation.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Silent Prayer
We commend to your mercy all who have died,
That your will for them may be fulfilled;
And we pray that we may share with all your saints
In your eternal kingdom.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Silent Prayer
From self-righteousness that will not compromise,
And from selfishness that gains by the oppression of others,
O Lord, deliver us.
From the lust for money or power that drives to kill,
O Lord, deliver us.
From hearing, believing, and speaking lies about other nations,
O Lord, deliver us.
From suspicions and fears that stand in the way of reconciliation,
O Lord, deliver us.
From Words and deeds that encourage discord, prejudice, and hatred; from everything that prevents us from fulfilling your promise of peace
O Lord, deliver us.
We offer these prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord.
