CALL TO WORSHIP
Your light has filled our lives,
But we have not shared it with others.
Lord, have mercy on us.
You have marked us as your own in baptism,
But we have not lived as your faithful people.
Christ, have mercy on us.
You have called us to be a light to the nations,
But we have hidden our light under a bushel.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Transform us by the power of your Holy Spirit
So that we may live out our baptism
As your new creation,
Forgiven and made whole by your matchless love
In Jesus Christ our Lord.
Thanks be to God! Amen.
OPENING HYMN: “God Hath Spoken by the Prophets” #108 UMH
OPENING PRAYER Gracious God, we gather today like the psalmist declaring that we believe that we have walked in integrity. We also believe that we have walked in faithfulness, avoided hypocrites, and shunned the company of evildoers. We declare to you all of the good things that we remember doing and saying and believing all week. But, just in case our level of integrity is not the same as yours, we, like the psalmist, say “Prove us.” Place your steadfast love before us again and again and again until we walk in faithfulness to you. Allow us to sit in your presence until we soak up your character and reflect your glory to the world. Prove us. Try us. Test our hearts and minds until our faith is able to stand surefooted on solid ground. Then prove us again and again until you are satisfied.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
O great and holy God, we sing humans; we offer prayers; we stand in awe of your creations; we are humbled by your love. When we come to you, we are often asking something from you. You have given to us even when we did not ask Now, in these moments, we are not asking for anything but offering our gifts of appreciation for all your mercies. We offer our money. We offer ourselves. We pray that both these gifts and our lives will honor you in the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.
